Bellawongarah Picnic & Display Day May 15th 2010

The Saturday of the Picnic Day at Tony Strachan’s place at Bellawongerah, near Berry was perfect Autumn weather. The worries about road closures and such came to nothing and so after a delightful drive through the Southern Highlands and the mountainous country around KangarooValley, we were able to enjoy good company in a delightful setting with excellent food. There were fifty people, but only seven pre-war cars: the Lunsman Alvis, the Berlin Sunbeam, the McIntoshRolls Royce, the Harrington Hotchkiss, the Coutts Vauxhall, the Vincent Rolls Royce and, of course, the Strachan Bentley in its first Club appearance. There were plenty of other very desirable cars, which made a great sight parked in a crescent with the rainforest behind them. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, and it was a great opportunity to catch up with those we don’t see very often. Richard Calver and John Phillips from Canberra were there, and it was good to see Rex and Nora Vincent who aren’t often able to get to our events; Rex is the President of the RROC so, of course, their events take priority. In all it was a most enjoyable day, and we are very
grateful to Tony for his kind hospitality.
