 The inspiration

As found in 1985

The donor car with it's panels placed on it, the body was in poor condition with no wood frame, but it was not wasted, it now lives on another Studebaker

The chassis has been sand blasted & primed, the body is placed on the chassis and the bonnet fitted

The new body takes shape

The chassis painted in two pack.. As most of the chassis is seen extra care was taken filling any imperfections

The new engine turned aluminium instrument panel panel aluminium framed steering wheel.

The new steel hood frame on the full size drawing

The new partially spoked wire wheel is tried on to check the offset.clearance

The 5.5 litre straight eight engine at various stages of reconditioning

The easiest way to fit the engine was to lift the car over the engine

The massive 15x212 inch 3 shoe Bendix brakes with their new finned cast iron drums

The car outside with a sheet over the hood bows to check the shape

Off to the motor trimmers to be trimmed.

Back from  motor trimmers sporting it's new black vinyl skin.

The black vinyl  now painted with red vinyl coating.

The car is once again pushed outside to check the wheel revolutions for the speedometer

Nearing completion. No fuel tank, windscreen or trunk yet.
