Background of this Vehicle

Two similar cars were privately entered in the 1929 Brooklands Double Twelve, organised by the British light car club, which disadvantaged the big cars as they had to carry weights on the back seat as well as being handicapped to a formulae.

Despite this the Studebakers won their class and one managed to come 4th outright behind the factory teams of Bentley and supercharged Alfa Romeos, who used the top drivers of the day.

The Brooklands Studebakers were standard President Eights with minor modifications and light weight British style bodies with cycle guards.
